What if at start of ride someone walks up to you, and tells you that they don't have money for the ride but at the end of fare they will bring up the money from his/her house/apartment, will you pick up that fare?

This past weekend I dropped off someone on West 46th street, street was jam packed with cabs due to Hudson terrace and Pacha as I expected, one girl was talking to the cab driver for about five minutes three cabs ahead of my cab , and then cab left with out picking her up to the next fare, same happened with all three drivers ahead of me, they talked to the girl and then drove off with out picking her up.

IN MY CITY

Sent to you by Paul via Google Reader:

Always lots to see and do here. some of my favorite things include a 9,335 sq. ft. architectural model of NYC containing every single building constructed before 1992 in all 5 boroughs; a total of 895,000 individual structures. at the Queens Museum of Art in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Open Wednesday - Sunday: 12 - 6pm. It's always PAY-AS-YOU-WISH!

New Years Eve 2010

Sent to you by Paul via Google Reader:

After the chaos of the prior two weeks blogged about previously, I was now dreading NYE. First up this is my first New Years driving a taxi, and I'd heard horror stories from others about it, as well as reading blogs from other drivers around the country that indicated the holiday was the "suck".
That and I still felt pretty sore from the wreck the prior week.

Winona as L.A. Cabbie

Speaking of films about taxi drivers, here is one I sort of, more or less, recommend. Night on Earth is a movie set in 5 different cities around the world. Each scene is based around one eccentric cabdriver and their even more eccentric passengers.

LAUGHING ON DUTY

Sent to you by Paul via Google Reader:

A few things made me laugh today. A billboard seen from Twelfth Avenue, of an ad for storage units, but in reference to non-bipartisanship. Also, a sign on the back of a delivery truck, common to trucks, but instead of the usual wording, this one had a play on words....
zucchini squash

If this is KARMA, I want off the ride!

After the last blog post about lunatic assault artists and road rescues, I thought I'd be back to what is considered "normal" in the cabbin' game…picking up folks and taking them places for money.
Well last night I got started with a regular customer who needed a lift home and then got the first "bell" call of the night. Picked up four pretty young women who were headed downtown for a party at Benders (popular night spot in Denver).
